Not to long ago, a couple days at the most. The Iraq study group relesed it's findings which stated that the situation in Iraq is beyond repair. No good options are left. What does that mean for the U.S.? I have long thought that to be true. I am glad that it has officially been stated. I know it is going to be a long and hard road to us getting out of Iraq, but we need a time table so that we can begin to systematically pull out. This will prepare the Iraq govn't to handle it's own affairs. I just hope that the American people will see that the situation in Iraq is extremely bad. We need to get out to save some of our image. We have already tarnished it. Hopefully not beyond repair. People are dying everyday young men and women, American and Iraqi. Horrible things are happening over there All I have to say is that Iraq is out of hand.
I can only imagine what horrible things he has seen

I truly agree with everything you are saying. In fact the majority of the U.S. people agree. The only person that agrees but has not implemented any of the 79 suggestions made by the study is our Commander and Chief. Winning a war is easy, occupying that country is the hard part.
I also do agree with you 100%. I am from the Philippines though, but I do feel deeply what is happening over there and I don't seem to quite like what is happening. Winning a war is great but what happens after the war is another story. War should never happen. Something must be done about it.
Thanks for dropping by.
We have been "training" their police, government, for two years now. Still, they can barely muster enough to quell a small fistfight. Those we have trained have turned upon us and shot our soldiers.
Define "victory." Forcing our will and beliefs upon them? Killing everybody in the country that disagrees with us? Better than 60% of Iraqi's want us out of there yesterday - and that's the civilian population!!
The solution is very simple. Get out the way we went in - in a big F'ing hurry!
Hi C-Dell. Thanks for visiting my blog again, and for your kind words about my friend who lost her mom. I wanted to say I do agree with your post. Thank goodness there are students like you who are awake to what is happening in the world. It's people like you who will, in the future, make a difference in the road our country takes. About your previous post...Education...I can't agree with all of it. I think it is only a certain "group" of kids who drop out. Perhaps those who never learned about family values and the importance of education, or who do not have enough self-esteem. Of course, not enough people in the right places are helping them to stay in school. But there are those who try, and programs in place to help. Eventually, hopefully, this will change. But I do know who invented the polio vaccine, and I do know who invented the printing press. And I have no earthly idea who has the most rushing yards or what Tom Cruise did yesterday. So thankfully, (even tho I am of a different generation) there are people like you, and like me, who care, and learn, and try to help others. Perhaps our next President will care more about advancing America, and less about a personal power trip. UGOGUY! I like the way you think!
Amen. I could write on this all day. I actually have. Do I have your permission to link your blog? We are very similar.
I served in the Marine Corps, believe me, ,yu don't want to know what any of these guys have seen...
The situation in Iraq is dire, pulling out will not solve the problem and would, I believe become far worse, the solution is far more human Intelligence to remove the ringleaders with lethal force, and the will to carry it out. Islamic extremism is a worldwide problem and must be confronted. See here…. http://tinyurl.com/yxx8js
My husband served too, Dirk Star. C-Dell, I linked you and plan on visiting.
The foundation for America's original support for the war was fear. This isn't a logical or positive reason for war. I like all the comments for this post- it makes one think.
A number of people knew that invading Iraq would have negative consequences on the nation, and a wide swath of people--including some from the CIA and military--thought the plan was either ill-advised or misinformed.
The Baker report simply closes the barn door after all of the cows have gone. We'll see what an eventual pullout is like, and we'll see if the PNAC'ers in the White House still have their resolve to invade either Syria or Iraq.
BTW, thanks for stopping by my place. You're always welcome there.
I'm gonna be honest-the States should've pulled out of there a LONG ass time ago.
Now that that whole thing thingy was released, those soldiers will be heading out as soon as possible.
Better late than never.
An exit strategy should always be factored in at the beginning.
How you guys are goingto make this work I have no idea. You're damned if you do and damned if you don't.
There are no winners. How can the American public take this one on the chin. Sadly the war was not won and the battle is still playing.
Get your boys out now. Please.
Maybe get someone in command who understands
Just remember, you are the new Roman Empire, but take heed what happened to them......
We can't just "cut and run." Look what happened in Somalia when we pulled out. Oh wait, so you don't care about what happens in other countries, yet you preech that we should respect other nation's opinions. We cannot continue to pretend that we're living in a world where everyone follows the Geneva Conventions and the UN rules. Go see the movie "Blood Daimond" and then decide whether we should pull out of Iraq or not and respect other people's cultures.
I'm afraid none of these groups' reports will cause bush to make any real changes. He is more worried about "winning" and protecting his leagacy than is is about the lives of the soldiers or the Iraqis.
Of course he is P.O.P, why do you think you are in this situation!
The movies are just another form of hysterical power.
You clearly all feel so strongly my children, what are you waiting for? Act now before it's all too late, you Do have power yourselves you know. Just remember the Roman Empire thing.....
Help, I need answers too, act quickly.......
Yea, its workin here!!
Peace & Love
Rajeev.
It is unfortunate. War is unfortunate for all parties involved. Nobody wins when innocent lives are lost.
I guess this is the drawbacks of being a super-power to the world.
My Dad...who is a WWII vet and 82 and very wise said it so well about this Iraq mess...presidents are so damn quick to go to war with out thinking of the consequences and cost and then we get "stuck"...lose precious lives and face and NEVER DO WE LEARN from history.
