Theory

Thomas Hobbes wrote Leviathan, which showed a negative view of human nature that needs govn't to control their brutish nature and conflicting desires. John Locke's Tabula Rasa states that humans are blank slate at birth and govn'ts and societies make them good or bad. Rene Descartes' Dualism, separation of mind and body. In the tradition of these people I present to you my own philosophical theory. Cardell K. Morgan's Atomic Theory of Democracy. In this I state "It is the Role of the individuals of the world to collectively create and empower the large." I came about this theory when I was writing my last post. I thought that the earth is in the relatively same position that it was in exactly one year ago. Propelled through space by gravity. A force who's power is derived the very basic level of existence. I thought that this must be the natural way for govn't to work. A nation is composed of it's citizens, and without their cooperation the nation as a whole does not work and loses all of it's power. Atoms compose everything, and without them the fundamental forces of nature do not work and are thus powerless. I am not saying I am a philosopher. I just wanted to share my theory with the world.

The theory behind democracy is that a collective rule could provide better stewardship for a nation than autocratic rule. I think that's something virtually everyone stipulates as true.

At the same time, there had existed a tension between the large and the many that came to a head during the twentieth century. Were the fruits of profit equitably shared among both the large and many, then that's a valid theory. But if you find that there is an inequity in compensation, then it comes to the point where the large have no mandate, and can only maintain that imbalance through coercion, manipulation, and violence.

Another way of government working is to create a culture of fear but that only works so long as the people fail to question the tactics being used.

You are a philosopher.

Are you a political science/government or philosophy major? Government is my minor.

Your philosophy reminds me of the Marxist/Lenin school of thought. In other words, Communisim/Socialism.

BTW...what link did you give me?

thanks for sharing! i agree that folks in a democracy based governmental system have a duty to be an active part of the system. that's the whole point. we here in america are a democratic republic- representative government- and we are currently reaping what we have sown in the government we have. we as a nation have been apathetic at best and certainly hands off. so- now we have to fight to take back our country. hopefully, it isn't too late.

"In this I state "It is the Role of the individuals of the world to collectively create and empower the large."" This sounds like a communist theory; as we know does not work as we have seen the fall of communism across the globe.

"A nation is composed of it's citizens, and without their cooperation the nation as a whole does not work and loses all of it's power."

We could also look at it like this: "Without their cooperation (citizens)" to me means not voting. Without the vote of the citizens, the government becomes corrupted, bloated, demanding, controlling, and finally all to powerful, the nation survives, but the people do not. (People being free)

Interesting post c-dell.

C-dell, I did not call you a communist. What I said is that what you wrote sounded to me like communist speak.
You mentioned something on my blog that is going to make a good blog entry.
Thanks

I like many of John Locke's theories in which there is a natural law which grants us natural rights that go in accordance with the course of our lives. For example, it is my natural, not political right, to defend myself, as I am my own property and I alone may be the only source of both labor and income. The role of the government is to protect those natural rights through our acquising to their political system. Once the government ceases to do so, we have the right to dissovle said system. This isn't Marxism, but good old Enlightenment, and Thomas Jefferson based the Declaration of Independence on it. But I believe that America as a government has broken its part of the social contract with its citizens. The trouble is that we are too apathetic or drugged by religion, sex and TV (John Lennon) to even see it.

I am taking a break from Virgin although I took off the invitation only thing. I will let you know when it's back. But I still want to visit!

Definately- Without the building blocks of society, there is no one to govern.
