Genes or Environment
Today I was talking with my dad, about me not posting. I have not forgotten about my blog nor have I given up, but by the end of this quarter I will be back. I was sittin around and I was thinking. I spent yesterday with my aunt, a woman I love very much and love spending time with, and we went to go see my cousin play in a basketball game. We were just talking about my family on the ride there. Today I talked with my father and just got to thinking, what makes people the way that they are? My father has always questioned society and why things are the way they are. If it wasn't for him, among a select others, I wouldn't be who I am today. My aunt has always wanted to experience more, always wanting to move on to the next thing in life to experience. She taught me experience as much of life as possible. My Uncle has been looking for himself as long as I have known him. He knows that the way things are, aren't the way he wants it to be. He is finding himself, and I am proud of him. Although he didn't purposefully instill this in me he taught that in the end you have to be happy, if you conform to others and ignore your true feelings you won't be happy. Finally my other aunt, who has always worked at bettering herself, but what she taught me has nothing to do with that she taught me to have pride in my family. Most of the people in Winnfield don't care about the things that my dad showed me were important, nor care to see the things in the world my aunt told me about, want the changes my uncle wants or the drive of my other aunt. I really have no point just me thinking in this post

You blog when you can. As you see, you haven't been forgotten. I found it hard to blog this semester as life got very busy.
I agree; don't conform to others--find your true voice and use it. Some people never learn that lesson and later on, it bites them in the behind. It is very sad. Stay honest and real, C-Dell.

Cardell...I can relate to this post on so many levels...me coming from a small town, I felt that I never belonged. In my mind, there was more to this world and I could not wait to get away. I will never forget where I have come from, the most important people in my life are still there. However, in order to make forward progress, I had to move on. God has been good. In my mind, there is still so much for me to accomplish ... hidden dreams outside of my medical profession that I would like to achieve. Break away from conformity, enrich my life through travel and different cultures . . . that is my dream, my ultimate goal. Keep blogging Cardell! Its a great outlet, I will see you soon.

Genetic explanations for personality and abilities can only explain so much, and some people have a tendency to use them to explain everything. In reality, very little physically (genetically) differentiates one person from another. And if you think about it, there isn't that much that separates us other than experience.
For example, Ted Williams, as you know, was cryogenically frozen. While it's a safe bet that no one will bring him back to life in the future, there is a substantial possibility that someone can clone him from his cryogenically preserved cells, a point which sportswriters began to speculate. "Would Ted Williams excel in today's game," they asked themselves.
I'd bet everything I own, and all that I could borrow, that Ted Williams' clone would be a lousy hitter. He might have Ted's genetic code, so he would be tall, naturally thin, and possess really good eyesight, all three attributes contributing to William's success. But the clone wouldn't have Ted's life experience, and we have no reason to believe that he would have the same desire, dedication to the game, historical positioning, intelligence, toughness, or sense of fair play of the former.
BTW, we'll still be here when you get back to blogging. School comes first.
